Auckland War Memorial Museum
Auckland War Memorial Museum is recognised as
holding nationally and internationally significant collections. The
existing building, as it stands today, was built in three stages,
the original 1929 portion, the 1960's southern elevation addition
(semi-circular as pictured) and the recently completed works in
2006, which is showcased by the internal floating Fijian kauri
'beehive' and the roof top extension.
Kwanto was engaged to provide a maintenance cost estimate based
on a scope of remedial repairs developed by Salmond Reed Architects
and Clive Pankhurst (Facilities Technician, Auckland War Memorial
Museum). The accuracy of the estimate was of high priority, as is
true for most projects, but more so with this one as the bottom
line figure would be used by the maintenance team to approach the
Museum Board for funding.
We felt privileged to be involved in the continual maintenance
of the Auckland War Memorial Museum as it is vitally important to
preserve this treasure for future generations.
