Millwater Terraces

After 3 years of thorough planning Broadway Property has delivered a stunning mixed use development in the heart of Millwater. The 37 residential units and 14 retail units have now been completed, with owners ready to move into their new homes when the titles have been issued.

Kwanto's involvement with the project began in 2014 when we provided estimation and cost planning advice based on the conceptual design. We were then able to work alongside Broadway Property to manage the project cost so that the tender price and final cost reflected our original budget, well actually slightly below, which we think is a great result.

The Millwater team and especially the client side was over every detail and it was this attention to detail that delivered a premium product in what is currently a tough construction market.

A seismic upgrade and refurbishment

The first stage of this extensive seismic upgrade and refurbishment in downtown Auckland was completed earlier this month.

Following significant issues with the foundations and ground works early in the project, the dedicated team of contractors pushed through the difficulties to produce an immaculate ground floor retail space along with a structurally stable building. This was achieved by installing a new steel frame which is tied back to the new foundations, all within the confines of the existing external brickwork walls. The historic Queen Street façade was retained, with repair work and repainting bringing it back to its former glory.

The second stage of this project involves the fitout of an office space on level 1 and two multi-level apartments on levels 2 & 3. Completion of the project is expected by the end of October.

Welcome back Caroline!

We are stoked to have Caroline rejoin the team at Kwanto after three years of travel and adventure.  Caroline and her husband set off from Auckland in 2014 to see the world and have gone some way to achieving this goal.  They travelled through Asia, Europe and the Americas, with Disneyland in Anaheim, hiking the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu, and hot air ballooning over Cappadocia being a few of the highlights!  The trip included an 18 month stint working as a contractor side QS for a large construction company in London.

The experience gained working overseas and on the contractor side has further expanded Caroline's quantity surveying knowledge and skills, and she is eager to apply these to the variety of projects that Kwanto is involved in.
