Since September 2011 the Kwanto team has been working alongside an insurer in Christchurch.  As of January 2012, our construction cost consultants have completed around 200 remedial estimates for earthquake damaged houses.  This has helped to put accurate costs against getting Cantabrian homes habitable again.

The team based in Tauranga regularly travel to Christchurch to complete site visits and liaise with builders, structural engineers and insurers.  This experience has extended our knowledge and expertise in remedial estimation.  We now know more about subfloor construction methods and "house lifts", as well as cladding materials and seismic strengthening products to more accurately estimate the cost of fixing earthquake affected buildings.

Although the shaking continues, we aim to further develop our role in the rebuild of Christchurch by providing financial management and other quantity surveying services during the reconstruction phase.  Kwanto has been requested to become involved in other projects via insurers and we welcome the opportunity.

We hope it is not too long before these houses are fixed and the people of Christchurch can enjoy their homes again.
